Adobe Photoshop is the commercial image editor that set the standard in creative illustration and design work with a sophisticated, layer-based workflow and robust, professional feature set. It is used throughout the design world for everything from digital painting and photography to animation and graphic design.

Photoshop is mainly focused on raster graphics, but also provides tools for 3D imagery and vectors including shapes and editable text. Image elements can easily be arranged using composited layers with configurable live effects, while advanced selection tools and AI-based object selection make it easy to define those elements and also use them as masks for special effects. Many common special effects are included to handle things like drop shadows, bevels, and image warping, while much more complex effects can be achieved through plugin support. Color management is another focal point, and color models from RGB and CMYK to spot color and duotone are supported.

Originally an offline-only desktop app for early Apple hardware, Photoshop is now available across Mac, iPad, and Windows systems and strictly through a subscription to Adobe's Creative Cloud service.
