Two software applications are available from Technelysium: Chromas and ChromasPro.
Chromas is a simple, easy-to-use viewer and editor for sequencing chromatograms. Chromas is ideal for the most basic of sequencing projects, where assembly of multiple sequences is not required. It can export edited sequences or send them to the BLAST server for identification. Chromas has no alignment capability.
ChromasPro is for assembly of sequence reads into contigs, and also general sequence analysis such as restriction enzyme and open-reading-frame mapping, and BLAST searching.
ChromasPro is suitable for sequencing projects up to a few megabases, and basic sequence editing and analysis. It is able to assemble data from 454 and Illumina next-generation sequencers, with up to 100,000 sequences if 2 Gb RAM is available.
It can also edit individual sequence reads.
