FTD was a software client and community built around Usenet. Volunteers identified content uploaded on Usenet then submitted a pointer or "spot" of the spotted content to the FTD index where all FTD users could easily browse through available content.
FTD was shutdown in 2011 by Dutch legal system. Unlike SpotNet, SpotLite, and Spotweb, it relied on central servers operated by FTD to continue its existence. For an alternative, consider SpotLite or SpotWeb.
