Glucosio for Android, a user centered free and open source app for Diabetes management and research for Android.

Glucosio is the italian word for glucose (sugar) which comes from the Greek word ??e???? (Sweet Wine). We picked Glucosio because glucose is an important part of tracking and managing diabetes and one of the most important metrics we use in Glucosio Project apps.

How did this project get started?

Glucosio Project was started by a long time free and open source software contributor who became diagnosed with diabetes and saw a gap in the free and open source ecosystem where there were no good apps for tracking glucose and metrics for people with diabetes. A group of other talented and passionate free and open source contributors quickly joined the effort to make Glucosio a reality and the rest is history.

Diabetes today

Diabetes currently affects over 370 million people worldwide, making it one of the most prevalent health issues in the world. Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases in which there are high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period of time. Hundreds of institutions worldwide are researching various aspects of diabetes and looking for either better forms of management, new medication or a cure.
