Hiren's BootCD Alternatives

MediCat USB

MediCat USB is a complete Hiren's Boot Disk replacement for modern computers. Hiren's Boot Disk was great for the Windows XP, Vista, and 7 era of computing. Unfortunately it was discontinued in 2012, with FalconFour's Ultimate Boot CD following it's demise in 2013. So I took on the honor of bringing forth an up-to-date boot disk for everyone. MediCat USB aims to replace the discontinued and dated Hiren's Boot Disk.

SystemRescueCd

SystemRescueCd is a Linux system rescue disk available as a bootable CD-ROM or USB stick for administrating or repairing your system and data after a crash. It aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the hard disk partitions. It comes with a lot of linux software such as system tools (parted, partimage, fstools, ...) and basic tools (editors, midnight commander, network tools). It requires no installation.

Grml

Grml provides an excellent selection of software packages for installation, deployment and system rescue. You'll get sysadmin's favourite tools. Choose between a x86 and an amd64 version depending on your needs or just grab the multiboot ISO grml96, providing 64bit and 32bit ISOs in one single place. Grml provides several scripts and utils which make life easier. The default interactive shell is Zsh and is configured with a very powerful setup, including a nifty completion mechanism.

Rescatux

Rescatux is a GNU/Linux rescue cd (and eventually also Windows) but it is not like other rescue disks. Rescatux comes with Rescapp. Rescapp is a nice wizard that will guide you through your rescue tasks.
