RSQL Alternatives

RSQL

RSQL is a lightweight, simplified alternative to Microsoft SQL Server.
RSQL is a free implementation of the basic TSQL commands (TSQL is the SQL dialect used by Microsoft SQL Server).
RSQL is published under the free license GPL v3.
RSQL has been designed as a drop-in replacement for MS SQL Server, suitable for C# applications using only basic TSQL commands.
RSQL can manage millions of records, each table and index being stored in separate files.
RSQL runs on Linux and Windows.
RSQL is written in Go, a powerful and compiled language.
RSQL implements a subset of the TSQL dialect (only the basic SQL commands). Example: http://rsql.ch/guide/mytest_customer_fill_sql/
RSQL is full Unicode.
RSQL is multiuser.
RSQL is ACID compliant.
RSQL has no limitation imposed.
Transactions are supported.

If you write applications in C# and connect to MS SQL Server, and if your TSQL scripts are simple enough, RSQL may be good enough for you, free and without any limitation. You just have to change the driver reference name in your code.

The first usable version of RSQL has been published in December 2017.
An article has been published in the January 2018 issue of the german magazine LinuxUser http://www.linux-community.de/Internal/Artikel/Print-Artikel/LinuxUser/2018/01/Datenstapler .

RSQL still lacks features such as subqueries, DESC clause, etc. See list at http://rsql.ch/misc/about/
But more features will be added in the future, so be patient and don't hesitate to send me your feedbacks.
