Surge is an open source digital synthesizer originally written and sold as a commercial product by @kurasu (Claes Johanson) at Vember Audio. The synth uses subtractive hybrid synthesis and each patch contains two 'scenes' which are separate instances of the entire synthesis engine (except effects) that can be used for layering or split patches.
The synth is available in VST format on Windows, Linux and Mac as well as in AU (Audio Unit) format on Mac and LV2 format on Linux. It's also available as a set of modules for VCV Rack.
